Beautiful couple, pregnant mum of two killed in gas explosion; Explosion caused by truck collision - NNPC (Video)

An explosion rocked the Abule Ado area of Lagos state in the early hours of this morning, 15th of March 2015.

The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) put the death toll at 15 as of Sunday evening, a family of 4 and 11 others.

There are reports on social media that a beautiful couple met their untimely death in the explosion.

Victornkemjika tweeted;

“The number of people who died in the Explosion this morning will look like statistics until you have a friend or family member in the number , I’m so pained tonight !!!

Nigeria would test your strength , RIP Chisom and RIP to your husband too 😭😭😭😭😭😭”

A woman identified as Evelyn Chinwendu Ejike (nee Ogechukwu Osita) was killed when a cooking gas exploded in her house in Abuja last week.

Details of the incident is still sketchy, however, it was alleged that the deceased who was pregnant was cooking and using her phone when the gas exploded

The woman suffered 90 per cent burns on her body and died at the hospital where she was receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, friends have taken to Facebook to mourn her death . One Ujunwa Joy, wrote:

“I still can’t believe you are no more. Rip ogechukwu osita”

The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has revealed that the explosion which rocked Abule Ado community of Lagos State earlier today, was caused by a truck which struck gas cylinders in the community.

In a statement released by NNPC, it was gathered that the gas cylinders which was hit by the truck were stacked in a gas processing plant located near the corporation’s system 2B Pipeline Right of Way.

A video which captured gas flaring in Abule Ado hours before the explosion which destroyed properties and killed about 17 people in the Lagos community, has surfaced.

In the video which has gone viral online, a lady was heard saying that the gas was coming from a trailer.
